The Music Box Steps are where the famed comedy team of Laurel & Hardy filmed their 1932 Oscar-winning story “The Music Box.”
Music Box Steps Day is an annual family festival intended to enhance neighborhood pride and educate our youth about this historical jewel in their midst.
An official LA City sign designating the Music Box Steps as a cultural historical site will be unveiled by CD13 Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez.
A brand new sign will be on display, marking the park for generations to come.
Stan Laurel's great granddaughter, Cassidy Cook, and her twins, Lucy and Tommy, plan to attend.
The personal print of "The Music Box" from Billy Gilbert, famed comedian and supporting star in the film, will be projected, along with some other surprises.
Free food and a raffle with great prizes from neighborhood businesses.
Stan Laurel's daughter, Lois Laurel-Hawes, with her granddaughter and twin great-grandchildren (left to right) Lucy, Cassidy and Tommy Cook. They are fraternal, not identical twins.
Lois was married to Rand Brooks, who was in GONE WITH THE WIND, and also later the Hopalong Cassidy westerns. That is where the name comes from.
